As a painter I see the canvas as a place where color and form can replace words. I prefer abstraction because it allows complete artistic freedom. My drive is guided by my intuition, fueled by music and inspired from nature. My goal is simple. I wish to set a scene that evokes a mood or feeling to connect part of my inner world with the viewer.
Since 2005, I have been experimenting with paint. My love of color, texture, contrast, balance and form has created a very prolific decade of art. Through the course of making hundreds of paintings, I have found my own technique, typically including an assortment of palette knives, oil paint, raw pigment and found objects. I attended art school briefly, but quickly decided that I wanted to keep my experience with the process personal and completely unrestricted.
Have you ever watched a cat battle with a ball of yarn? It's a playful struggle until it all unravels. That's the approach I prefer to take. I like to see each canvas as a fun challenge.
Currently I live, work & find inspiration in Newburyport, Massachusetts.
